The First Of Many
Pay The Toll
MOBILE, Ala. — The Stanton University Lady Elks saw their Cinderella season come to a close this week at the NAIA National Championships. While the scoreboard favored No. 4 William Carey in a hard-fought battle, the loss does little to dim the brilliance of what has been a transformative year for the program.
A Season of Defying Odds
Entering their first year of Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) competition, the Lady Elks were largely viewed as underdogs. They quickly dismantled that narrative. In a stunning display of skill and composure, the squad pulled off a series of upsets that culminated in a GSAC Tournament Championship—a feat nearly unheard of for a program in its debut conference season.
The journey from local contenders to national qualifiers was defined by:
-
The GSAC Takeover: Sweeping through veteran programs to claim the conference crown.
-
National Recognition: Earning a spot on the grandest stage in Mobile, Alabama, and proving they belong among the country's elite.
-
Resilience: Overcoming the pressure of the national spotlight to represent Stanton University with pride.
The Future is Bright
The 2025-26 season will be remembered as the year the Lady Elks put the nation on notice. Reaching the NAIA Championships in year one sets a new, elite standard for Stanton Athletics. With a roster that has now tasted national competition, the "underdog" tag is officially a thing of the past.
As the team departs Alabama, they do so not with heads hung low, but with the momentum of a program on the rise. The Lady Elks have arrived, and the rest of the NAIA is officially watching.
