UCSD Hosts Tennis Match
SAN DIEGO, CA – The Stanton University Men's Tennis team showcased their competitive spirit this past Friday, battling through a tough road test against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at UC San Diego. Despite a 5-2 team result, the Elks walked away with several high-caliber individual performances that highlight the program's bright future.
The highlight of the day came at the top of the lineup, where Oleks Kolesnychenko delivered a masterclass at #1 Singles. Kolesnychenko dominated his opponent in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, proving he can compete with the best in the region. Yohann Molle followed suit at #3 Singles, displaying incredible composure and grit to secure a convincing 6-4, 6-4 victory.
In doubles action, the duo of Egor Pishchelev and Matthias Bigot provided the most thrilling moment of the morning. Fighting through a back-and-forth battle at #2 Doubles, the pair showed remarkable chemistry to edge out a 7-6 (7-5) tiebreak win, earning a hard-fought point for the Elks.
While the team score didn't fall their way, the Elks proved they have the talent and heart to go toe-to-toe with elite programs. Stanton looks to carry this momentum and the lessons learned at UC San Diego into their next conference matchup.
