Stanton’s Final Word
Elks Head To Cal Pac Tournament
CYPRESS, CA — The Stanton University Elks finished their regular season with a 66-64 statement victory over Westcliff University on Saturday night. This win was more than just a notch in the column; it was revenge for an earlier "OC Derby" where Westcliff upset the Elks in a triple-overtime marathon that saw both teams clear 100 points.
The Comeback
For 38 minutes, it looked like Westcliff would repeat history. The Elks trailed 36-24 at halftime and remained down for almost the entire game. However, the final two minutes belonged to Stanton. The Elks erased the deficit with a late-game surge, flipping the scoreboard to secure the win just before the buzzer.
Elite Performances

Rafael Gomez: Put the team on his back with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
-
Yasuhide Hino: Fueled the rally with 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting.
-
Jovanni Tapia: Sparked the bench with 13 points and 5 boards.
-
Duje Srzic: Cleaned up the glass with a team-high 10 rebounds.
One Family, One Goal
The energy in the building was powered by the Stanton community. A huge thank you goes out to the Men's and Women's Soccer teams, the Tennis team, and the Lady Elk Basketball team—who wrapped up their own season last week—for showing up in force to push the boys over the finish line.
Next Stop: San Francisco
The regular season is over, but the work isn't done. The Elks now carry this momentum into the post-season as they head to San Francisco to compete for the title.
