Elks at Life Pacific
SAN DIMAS, Calif. – In a New Year's Eve showdown, the Stanton University Elks faced a formidable challenge on the road, falling 94-65 to the Life Pacific Warriors. Despite the lopsided final score, the Elks showcased flashes of individual brilliance, led by a career-high effort from forward Duje Srzic.
The first half was a competitive affair, with Stanton remaining within striking distance. Head coach Michael Acuna saw his squad battle through early defensive pressure, trailing by just eight points at the break. However, the Warriors' high-octane offense—shooting over 55% from the field—proved too much to contain in the second half.
Standout Performers
Duje Srzic (#35)
Srzic was undoubtedly the bright spot for the Elks. The 6'7" forward was a force in the paint and at the charity stripe, finishing with a game-high 23 points. His efficiency was on full display as he went 7-of-11 from the floor and drew constant contact, converting 8-of-10 free throws. He also led the team in rebounding with 6 boards, continuing his trend as Stanton's primary interior threat.
Alex Stein (#11)
The senior point guard provided stability in the backcourt, logging 27 minutes. Stein chipped in 10 points and was perfect from the free-throw line (4-for-4). While he struggled from beyond the arc, his ability to facilitate the offense and secure 4 rebounds helped keep the Elks in the game during the opening frame.
Jermaine Patton Jr. (#2)
Coming off the bench, Patton Jr. provided his signature spark for the Elks. In just 18 minutes, he notched 7 points and showed great aggression attacking the basket, earning four trips to the line.
While Stanton matched the Warriors on the glass and found success getting to the free-throw line, their struggles from deep (1-for-9) and Life Pacific's elite ball security (only 5 turnovers) created a gap that was impossible to close.
