Stanton Welcomes Mike Acuna
Stanton Elks Name Mike Acuna as New Head Coach, Ushering in a New Era
Anaheim, CA — The Stanton Elks are excited to announce the hiring of Coach Mike Acuna as the program's new head coach, marking a significant step as the team prepares for its entry into the competitive world of NAIA basketball.
Coach Acuna brings a wealth of experience to the Elks, backed by a diverse and accomplished coaching career. He has served as an assistant coach at three respected collegiate programs: Concordia University, Biola University, and Azusa Pacific University. His time at these institutions has given him a strong foundation in player development, game strategy, and program building at the college level.
But Coach Acuna's impact reaches far beyond the sidelines of college gyms. With over a decade of coaching experience at the CIF high school level, he's worked closely with young athletes during their most formative years, understanding both the challenges they face and the potential they possess. His deep roots in grassroots basketball have shaped him into a mentor who values growth just as much as wins.
Acuna's journey also includes an international chapter — seven years coaching in Japan, where he worked with players ranging from youth prospects to professionals. This global perspective has further sharpened his ability to connect with athletes across cultures and stages of development.
As the Stanton Elks transition into NAIA competition, Coach Acuna's leadership will be instrumental in guiding the team into a more competitive and competent basketball environment. With his proven track record and passion for the game, he's the right coach to elevate the program and help the Elks thrive on the national stage.
